Not related: Apparently there’s a Stephen Colbert ice cream ‘Americone Dream’ or something like that. The store really doesn’t have much of it, but people also don’t seem to really buy it. It’s a Ben & Jerry’s thing. Crazy Ben & Jerry. It’s probably a limited thing, but I’ve got to say Colbert has some weird stuff, I watch his stuff when I can, I usually can’t, last week I pretty much got to see what was on everyday.

So, the paper or plastic thing. I know there’s like a $0.08 tax on each plastic bag you use in Ireland (last time I checked anyway- that was a while ago) and I know some towns in my state have banned using plastic bags. There’s a store, in a town, that gives you the option and it’s allowed in the town. So many people abuse it, they’re like “Paper in Plastic” it’s so stupid, it’s just like “Choose one or the other, If I’m gonna be bagging I don’t want to have to be waste 50% of the time putting the damn bag together” and it’s one thing if they bag themselves, but it’s some of the dumbest things ever. They wont lift a finger, they wont even offer, but they’ll buy 50 things of tissue boxes and expect it Paper in plastic, it’s like- “No, your tissues will not leak, I promise” I mean if they melt I guess that’s one thing??? But the fact of the matter is if your tissues melt on the way home, I’d turn the heat down, there’s no reason for tissues to be melting. Really, they wont melt so either choose plastic or paper. People use paper for either eco reasons or because of it’s structure, tissues, however, have their own damn structure and if they’re asking for plastic as well it’s just B.S. Choose one or the other people, or bag the damn groceries yourself. It’s not a few items. It’s people who buy $400 worth of groceries and need several carts and sure a few things will leak, and it makes sense for people to say “put cold stuff in plastic” or “put the juice in plastic and the rest in paper” but there is no reason and I emphasize no reason to use both. It’s a bag. if you’re so paranoid about it bring your own damn bags. People bring in their own bags all the time and it’s fine. People come in with Trader Joe bags all the time. They’ve got the height and structure of a paper bag, but are made of a strong plastic, so you don’t have to worry about leaking or anything. So people either choose paper or plastic, or get your own damn bags. Because when it comes down to it, they’re free, but that doesn’t mean you should take every single one, you’re not paying for the bags (and they do cost money) and when something is being given to you free you really can’t expect to get all the options, ya know?

Random fact, the Japanese have a word for the spaces put in between Japanese words specifically in children books who haven’t learned Kanji “a higher form of Japanese” the reason why this is a fact is because in regular japanese there are no spaces. The word is “wakachigaki” for those curious.
