So, over the course of two days I was introduced to a solo singer named Vitas and a girl group that’s popular in Russia right now called Via Gra (but called Nu Virgos outside Russia) and Emilie Autumn (a girl from California)

I must say Vitas’s vocal range is… quite scary to my honest, I didn’t know men could sing at such a high pitch. It put my soprano friend to shame. He uses falsetto unlike the male soprano Michal Maniaci. In his video the star, it focuses on him walking through the snowy ground, and although there are vehicles passing by once in a while. It give a very deserted feel, one part the of the bridge is missing and he jumps only to land on the bridge, but clearly the pain of the song is clear. And while you keep thinking he’s falling off, he’s still there. According to a fan on Youtube named “Vitasrocks” he translated the song under the ‘comments’ “So many times I asked myself
Why was I born, and what I grew up for
Why float the clouds and rains pour
In this world, don’t expect anything for yourself
I would have fly to the clouds, but I have no wings
That starlight lures me from faraway
But to reach the star is hard, even though the goal is near
And I don’t know if I’ll have enough strength for the throw
I will wait a bit more
And then prepare myself for the journey
Towards my dream and hope
Don’t burn out yet, star of mine, wait
How many roads will I still have to go by
How many heights will I have to conquer to find myself
How long will I have to fall from the cliff
How many times will I have to start all from zero, and is there a meaning to it
I will wait a bit more
(I will wait a bit more)
And then prepare myself for the journey
(And then prepare myself for the journey)
Towards my dream and hope
(Towards my dream and hope)
Don’t burn out yet, star of mine, wait
(Don’t burn out yet, star of mine, wait) ” So this would explain the feel of the music video, all in all I must say it goes quite well as far as giving off that feeling. I told a Russian friend I had recently heard about him and she completely went into ‘he’s soo hott’ comment, it was quite amusing. There’s this one crazy scene in Opera 2 when he’s in full clothes, splashes his face into a full bathtub and flings his arms around as if in either craze or celebration. Then he’s what looks like naked playing the accordion, nothing is shown. There’s this one note he hits and it’s gorgeous and all the glass around him is shattering. The end is weird. I’ll leave it at that. I looked at Opera N1 just because I liked the song and was wondering if it would help at all explain Opera N2. It apears to be set in Asia, some speculate Thailand. I realized something, that either iTunes had mislabeled Vitas’s song (which is entirely possible, since it IS iTunes) or the person had mislabeled the song. Since it sounded nothing at all like the song I had bought. figuring there were two Vitas songs with only one number difference it was entirely possible and since iTunes does seem to have that reputation of, well, mislabeling this. He takes on a powerful role like he’s preaching and while his “followers” appear to be worshipping him, towards the end they start covering their ears. Perhaps to give way to the idea that there are false prophets and to not blindly follow what you are told.

“Nu Virgos is the name used to promote the group VIA Gra (ВИА Гра) outside of Russia, Ukraine and other nearby countries. The name VIA Gra is both a reference to the drug Viagra and a play on words, since the first three letters stand for “vocal-instrumental ensemble” in Russian, and “Gra” means “Game” in Ukrainian.” (wiki) The video I saw of theirs was called LML, I wasn’t too crazy, about the song, it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t amazing either. Though their song ‘Stop Stop Stop’ they’re talking about being pressured into sex or something like that, but at the same time they’re in these little nothing outfits, like a bustier that they’re exploding out of and little panties. It’s was… awkward and seemed incredible hypocritical. I love the effects they use in it, the outfits the wind. I give my props to whoever did this music video, it’s definitely one of the best ones that I’ve seen as far as beautiful is concerned. Not just beauty from the artists like make up and outfits, but also such beauty in the scenery. It makes them look like they’re not from Earth, but in one of the best ways. It appears that there are several versions of this song, meaning different languages. There is such a power in the colors they’ve chosen, going from a fiery red to a cool, dark blue. It’s not necessarily a commerical kind of beauty, but more of a mysterious kind of beauty, it’s hard to describe it. Toward the ends there’s a part with what looks like an army of young aristocrats and it works with the music video. The only thing I would question is if the music when with the video, because the video on it’s own is just amazing, but I’m not sure the music really goes with it. Maybe it’s a hypocrisy type of group. I can’t really say I’m sure just what to think of this group. Apparently they’re really popular in Russia right now, but from what I see they’re not consistant. But who am I to judge? And really, going from what I declare slutty to what I declare art-ful, doesn’t that make everyone happy? Just watch what you wish to watch and ignore the rest, that’s the way to view the Idols of today. Ignore what you wish and indulge in what makes you the happiest.

Emilie Autumn apparently is a self proclaimed ‘Raggedy Ann from Hell’ for those who don’t know Raggedy Ann, Johnny Gruelle as the creator of Raggedy Ann, his daughter died at 13 after being vaccinated for small pox without her parents permission. Mr. Gruelle then turned his creation, Raggedy Ann, into an anti-vaccination symbol, despite the authorities telling him that his daughter’s death was due to a heart defect. Of course, with Raggedy Ann, there was a Raggedy Andy, I don’t think he acknowledges that or cares. She currently lives in Chicago, but originally is from Malibu, California. She was inspired to make her own clothes because her mother makes clothes. She’s also a practicing vegan. I haven’t seen any music videos, meaning Im not sure she has any. But her music is so amazing, I highly recommend it. It’s got such a beautiful, mysterious, almost earthy feel to it. A friend of mine called her a “Darker Enya” but if anything I like Emilie’s music significantly more than Enya (not to say Enya isn’t talented, it’s just that I enjoy more of Emilie’s music). ‘How Strange’ ‘Across the Sky’ and ‘Opheliac’ are the top 3 songs that I completely recommend. Apparently she toured with Courtney Love in France? Of course, don’t let that stop you from checking her out.
