Doctors seek to Silence Online Reviews
My opinion of this? If you’re a good doctor, who’s personable, then you have nothing to worry about. No one will post anything bad about you and you wont lose you’re current clientele. Also, the patients that you have will speak in your favor. I like the idea of an online review, because it tells doctors that they have to behave on the job and actually listen to people. Don’t give me that “they work hard” crap, I’m sure they do, but you know what? Most people do. And the fact is, if you can’t deal with people nicely, then maybe you shouldn’t be working with them. because the fact of the matter is that being a doctor means you deal with a lot of people on a daily basis, without people, well, you’re without a job. The fact is they need to realize this, just because someone is smart doesn’t give them the right to cut another person off, it’s just not fair. I know not everyone is a people person, I have friends who really hate strangers and don’t like talking to people, but you know what, they aren’t doctors, in fact, they don’t plan on having a job that purely deals with people on a day to day basis. Yes, we all have those days. But if there’s a few negative comments in a sea of good comments, I assure you, the bad ones will be overlooked, because it’s understandable that someone had a bad day. But you’re dealing with people, and you don’t need to ask them about that golfing trip or how their wife is, but you shouldn’t cut them off and you need to understand they’re telling you something, usually because they think you should know. It happens, really, it does. Non-doctors actually do say important things, and doctors are the classic stereotype of people who abuse their job, this would help eliminate it. Also it can really help people. I remember reading an article not too terribly long ago about this person who had a terrible doctor, turns out they were real doctors, they were impostors and gave this poor woman IVs and she was really scarred for life, and I’m not just talking about “Oh no, I don’t know if they’re real doctors” but they actually did severe physical damage and then just walked up and left the poor woman. If she had an online review they might have been able to track these people down (especially if they didn’t have fake IDs) or maybe someone else had gone through a similar experience or something. Had she gotten a heads up maybe her life wouldn’t be ruined, or maybe someone would check them out and see if they’re clean. I mean it’s just ridiculous, that’s like saying “We don’t want you to review our movies, because people might not like your reviews” but that’s why anyone worth talking to will take it with a grain of salt. They can usually figure it out, one bad review wont make them hate the movie, a million might, but chances are they might check it out anyway. Sure it’ll probably be from a video rental place so they don’t have to pay theater tickets, but really, those are so ridiculously expensive anyway.
