mathematician, a biologist and a physicist are sitting in a street cafe watching people going in and coming out of the house on the other side of the street.
First, they see two people going into the house. Time passes. After a while, they notice three persons coming out of the house.
The physicist: “The measurement wasn’t accurate.”
The biologists: “They have reproduced”.
The mathematician: “If now exactly one person enters the house then it will be empty again.”

What is the difference between a physicist, an engineer, and a mathematician?

If an engineer walks into a room and sees a fire in the middle and a bucket of water in the corner, he takes the bucket of water and pours it on the fire and puts it out.

If a physicist walks into a room and sees a fire in the middle and a bucket of water in the corner, he takes the bucket of water and pours it eloquently around the fire and lets the fire put itself out.

If a mathematician walks into a room and sees a fire in the middle and a bucket of water in the corner, he convinces himself there is a solution and leaves. (credit: Jeremiah Jazdzewski)

So I finally got the time to check out an interview with Ayumi Hamasaki.

I’m almost ashamed to admit this, but I’ve been avoiding Ayumi Hamasaki because of her popularity. I do that with American artists as well. I looked at her as a pop star and nothing more. Though I watched her interview with CNN on a special “Japan Now” thing.

I never realized how honest she was and how sincere she was. I think it’s amazing how she admits that she’s childish and how she’s sometimes selfish.

I got a good look into her different fashions and hairstyles and looks. I really appreciate her attitude towards being famous, it’s really a realistic look at it, which is hard to find. Before she started singing she prepared herself for losing friends and people changing their attitudes towards others and how she needs to be sincere in her music. She prepared herself for whatever outcome may happen and she knows that even if she’s having downtime, she’s always Ayumi Hamasaki, and her fans see her as Ayumi Hamasaki, so it’s her job to stay herself, because she’s Ayu no matter where or why. She talks about how she needs to be true and that her music sells because it has no lies in it, and it’s very honest.

She says she doesn’t need a vacation because working hard on her music makes her the happiest. Throughout the interview she switches between English and Japanese, and I’m amazed with her English, I didn’t realize how much English she knew and how understandable it was, it’s was really amazing. She switched into Japanese because it’s an interview and can’t obviously express everything perfectly into English, it’s just how it works, also some words are in Japanese that are difficult to translate into English (even for professional translators).

With that, I’d like to apologize to Ayumi Hamasaki and all of her fans because she clearly didn’t need negative judgement from an ignorant person like me, who saw a face, only listen to about 5 songs, then judged her.

She says she does her music with lots of emotion, and that’s why people like it because it brings a sort of empathy to the fans, and I must admit, when I finally listened to a song that I liked (not that she’s short on good songs, but because she has so many songs it’s hard to find the right ones because even the best musicians make flops) I must admit I did feel empathy, and even more so after reading the translation of the song. And I always feel that for an artist to stir emotion in another person, just by having that person hear or see whatever their art may be, that is a sign of accomplishment. I take photographs and I use photoshop and I try to create something real and something that can stir emotion in other people. So from artist to artist, I wouldn’t be able to help but respect her, even if I had only heard that part.

For those who would like to see the interview I’m talking about you can see it on Youtube, it’s in 3 parts, here is the first part

Origa? Who is Origa you ask? HOW DARE YOU!

Kidding.

Origa, also known as Ol’ga Vital’evna Yakovleva, and for the cool cats who can read Russian it’s  Ольга Витальевна Яковлева (can you say “copied from Wiki because this blogger doesn’t know much about Russia except that people are there… I think… )

Origa sung “Inner Universe” an opening to Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series. There’s a link to listen to it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIVgSuuUTwQ on youtube

and for those interesting in the credits of who wrote the song are here. There’s some confusion as to who wrote it, but I assure you that it’s completely sung by Origa, and the post itself is a great clarification of who helped to write it. Origa also sang “Rise” for the same series. she was also part of singing the song “Player” and “Date of Birth” for Ghost in the Shell.

Origa, although Russian, isn’t actually active in Russia any more, though I hear she does world tours.

I love her voice, she has such amazing control over it and she can use it to be so beautiful and haunting, I love it! I was first introduced to her existence through Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and from there have slowly, but surely stumbled upon some of her other projects (like actual albums that she herself did, as opposed to doing it for something like Anime) The last album she did, as far as I know was in 2008 and called Songwreath, and I haven’t had a chance to get it :( But I do listen to her album “Era of Queens” from 2003, I love the songs on it, it’s so fun and beautiful and so creative. The songs have fun beats to them, but it’s almost like they mixed Deep Forest and a beautiful pop ballad together sometimes, but slightly more upbeat than that? Maybe there’s no real way to describe it other than, It’s Origa, which it is, and Origa is amazing! You can listen to a lot of her music at the site I’ve listed below. Check it out!

One of her albums (This one was released in 1994!)

So I had a rather interesting experience buying on ebay. I got the product and everything, it was 3 DVDs of Vampire Princess Miyu!!! What a deal… then I got them, they were the real deal alright.

Oh. so. real.

I got the DVDs and I inspected them before I ripped the plastic off them, mostly, I looked at the labels and they seemed a little inconsistent, but stores do that, the art, from what I could see, seemed to be the real deal. So I open up the plastic… with my key..’cause that’s all I have at the moment. and I almost cry, I had just cut into the DVD case… but it was so deep… how could i have done that and not realized it? It’s because I didn’t do it. It was apparently on all three DVDs… guess where? Right where the bar code was.. So I finally open the DVD, and there are the inserts, they look like the real deal, and they feel like the real deal. Granted I didn’t actually read the text for typos but I know it didn’t say “Lorem ipsum” over and over again.

So… I play the first episode, because I really don’t have that much time, and when I say that, I mean… everyone decides to talk to me. Since they aren’t here in person, they talk to me through texts, facebook chat and skype. all of Which are IMPOSSIBLE to have conversations with when you’re watching a movie, though mostly skype. They wonder why there’s screaming in the backround XD (oh yeah… that’s my room mate… ['cause THAT doesn't sound sketchy])

I briefly read the insert and it was Kenji Kawai was the sound master, no I don’t actually remember what they called him. Then they said it was the same of Ghost in the Shell, well the name sounds familiar enough.. though I distinctly remember a Yoko Kanno being part of GITS…

Aha! … just for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (the only one I watched XP) well that explains a lot. and GIST: SAC 2nd And Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society (the only GITS movie I’ve seen) well now this explains A LOT! I feel stupid. But I shall not hide it, it happens… especially when you’ve taken a break from Anime… not of my own will… but… because my collection is at home. I asked my mom and she said You Can’t Take it With You! (all in caps because it’s a reference to….. You Can’t Take it With You… surprise :D )

Overall though I thought it was great, I really liked the character Miyu, it helps gives something better than when you watch the first episode of the OVA series. The music was really good, though the animation looked dated at times (not often though really) it still seemed really good. I really enjoyed the minor characters, which is strange that they’d still be minor, but I watched until the end of the episode and it was like… I did not see that coming. It was pretty cool, and I don’t mean the part before for the end, but I mean what happens to the kid (I’m trying to be vague, as in trying not to totally spoil it).

I remember when Berryz Koubou came out with their first single “Anata Nashi de wa Ikite yukenai” and I remember the song and the dancing. Granted, I haven’t seen much after 21 Ji no Made Cinderella, well, I saw Munesawagi Scarlet, but that was it… and the song, I don’t think it’s that great. It seems a little weird to me actually, and being a H!P fan for quite a few years now… I mean this song sounds weird. The strong voices are a nice change of pace, but the “Wao Wao!” almost gave me a headache, granted, it hasn’t been the best day, but that song probably didn’t help.  The Special effects were mediocre at best and what was up with that awkward leg crossing movement. Did any of them look comfortable with that? A couple of them were making this face like “this is sooo weird, please don’t let me fall over” It didn’t look normal either. It was like… what… are they doing? Though I want to make it clear that I think the voices were pretty strong and actually pretty good…I think it was the song itself, whoever composed it…well… yeah… nothing good…

I just looked at the comments and only saw one negative opinion of it (It wasn’t me, I swear!). Everyone else seemed to really love it and think it was fun. I thought everything looked too cheap (including the choreography and the actual song) for me to enjoy it. Though I did like the lower voices, I think most of them should stay singing lower, it sounds stronger and actually pretty good.

Well, the fact is, I fell in love with G-Dragon’s music before I even heard of 2NE1 and I didn’t realize he was in the group called Big Bang. Which I had been avoiding because it’d get too confusing, I talk about The Big Bang, The Big Bang Theory, The Big Bang Theory ( the TV Series, and I sometimes shorten it to Big Bang, so to ALSO talk about a band called Big Bang would just screw with my head majorly.

My friend had actually introduced me to G-Dragon’s “Heartbreaker” song, so of course I fall in love with it and get the album, it’s GREAT! I love the songs “Heartbreaker” “Gossipman” “The Leaders” “Hello” “She’s gone” and pretty much the entire album. It’s great. Then I saw the PVs. They. were. AWESOME! But from there I realized he was in the band Big Bang. And because I liked his music, there was a good chance I’d like the music from Big Bang. As a result, I said, “To Hell with this confusion, I MUST hear this music!” and I fell in love.

Big Bang has some amazing music, now all the music I’m mention is music that’s danceable (apparently that isn’t a word, it should be a word, but anyway…) It’s got a great, fun beat. It’s quite different from the music I usually listen, which is something about The Rasmus, The Script, Three Days Graces, Kudai, Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park, etc. The point is, this is FAR from what I usually listen to, but I love this music. Though I must say, if you’re a cry baby like me, don’t watch “Haruharu” the song is AMAZING I love it, it’s got a beat, but I dunno how danceable it is, mostly because I saw the ending. I’ll admit it, I cried. It’s a SAD ending. The whole time I was watching it with my friend who introduced me to G-Dragon and the whole time she’s going, “No! G-Dragon isn’t sad! It’ll be fine! Everything will be fine!” Then the end came, and it was like “YOU LIEEEEDDDD!!! T_T Imma gonna go cry now.” Well enough with my stories that show how tough I am XP My favorite Big Bang songs are: 하루하루, Follow Me, Top of the World, 声をきかせて, Love Club, Bringing You Love, 거짓말.  And of course learning about Big Bang made me learn that TaeYang had done some solo work.

So Guess who we’re going to briefly talk about next? TaeYang~! I loved Wedding Dress, the PV for it was AMAZING, a little sad, not nearly as sad as HaruHaru (하루하루). 나만 바라봐, and 기도 – Feat. Teddy. All very good, he’s got a great voice too. I just wish he had more than a mini album and a single out :( G-Dragon got a full length album, why not TaeYang? Oh well. So anyway, I love the stuff, but I still go back to look at more Big Bang stuff since there’s a lot. Between G-Dragon’s “The Leaders” and Big Bang’s “Lollipop” I notice a cool voice stand out, and at the time I don’t really care that Lollipop was a collaboration with 2NE1. But I notice CL had an amazing rap in G-Dragon’s “The Leaders” and then I heard her rapping again in “Lollipop” of course knowing that CL is in “The Leaders” due to the “feat. CL, Teddy) I got, hey the rap I liked wasn’t done by a boy in The Leaders, so it must be CL, I do some research and HEY! Guess what?

She’s in 2NE1. Which really should’ve been a duh. But at the time I was having artist overload (who would’ve thought that was possible? and with ME of all people?). Though her rap was amazing it was so fun too. So I gave in and decided to listen to 2NE1. Though the name makes me wonder, is is supposed to sound like “Twenty One” or “To Anyone?” Maybe it’s the New England area, but Twenty here sounds like Twenny more than TwenTy. Anyway, I wasn’t all that fond of the song lollipop, why I have two versions on my computer? I don’t know. I’m a music hoard. So I checked out CL’s other collaborations and I checked to see if she did any solo work. No solo work. Two collaborations, “Kiss” with Dara and “Please Don’t Go” with 민지 (no idea who that is XP ) but I didn’t really like them, so I looked at 2NE1′s mini album again and the new digital single they released and the new single was awesome, “Try to Copy me”, it’s fun and has a great beat. I also liked the Song “Pretty Boy” “I Don’t Care” (surprise! Not really, I have 2 other songs called I Don’t Care, one from F.I.R. and the other Fall Out Boy, for some reason that title produces good songs, or so I like to think.) And “Fire” is pretty cool. I wasn’t crazy about the other ones, but I’m pretty picky with my music.

Well this certainly was nostalgic for me, which is probably why I listened to Haruharu ever since I mentioned it. It’s ending! Must change it off of “Repeat one” ’cause if it starts again I need to finish the song before moving onto the next song, I’m weird like that.

What is the picture above you may or may not be asking? It’s a right click. I right clicked a tab. What happened to the simple “New Tab” and “Close Other Tab” options?  Really “Close tabs opened by this tab”? I have no many tabs open, I don’t remember what opened what.. “Duplicate” and “Reopen closed tab” confuses me… I’m not sure why people are so lazy they can’t simply copy and paste it into a new tab, but Reopen Closed tab? Really? Does this go on forever? Or is it just temporary…so wait… it keeps track of what order you close pages in? That’s a little creepy. Oh well.

Hello 1984… it’s 2010… you’re late.

S\Mileage
Their PV for Otona ni Narutte Muzukashii!!! is the cutest thing that I’ve seen inthe while. The adorable of it reminds me of Mini Moni a little bit. The cute voices and the expressions of some of them. One of them looks like a younger version of Akaya Kimura  (who was in Coconuts Musume) and Linlin (who is a Panda!! :) ) There is one with the bow and the curly hair… I don’t realy know how to describe her, she’s wearing a black sweater in the PV, but she reminds me of Kago Ai and unless I didn’t pick out her voice correctly, she almost sounds like Aibon or Nono (I can never remember, those two were glued at the hips XP ) But I think the PV was executed quite well and it was adorable to say the least. So from what I heard, Tsunku said they were going to debut… then later he said, if they can get 10,000 pictures of people smiling, only THEN can they debut. I don’t think they’ll have a problem with that, you can send it free through the interwebs. Hello-online.org has a info on how to do that. I did, it was surprisingly hard finding a picture of me smiling, but I’m sure my friends wouldn’t be surprised at all.

But yeah, the song is adorable, the energy is there and the singing is pleasant on the ears, not squeaky, which is nice.

Anyway… pictures of the group :)

Ogawa Saki

Maeda Yuuka

Wada Ayaka (who looks a little bit like Ayaka Kimura, though more like Linlin, I have pictures of them below)

Fukuda Kanon (who totally reminds me of Kago Ai, I have a picture of her below.)

Now for the people I mentioned in the post that aren’t actually in S/Mileage

Ayaka Kimura (who I said Wada Ayaka looked slightly like… granted this isn’t the best picture of Ayaka Kimura so you all probably think I’m crazy. And I just want to note the reasno why I’m calling her Ayaka Kimura, rather than Kimura Ayaka, is because she was part of Coconuts Musume, and with Coconuts Musume they would call them First Name, Last Name, rather than their usual Last Name, First Name)

Linlin (She’s a Panda! Well, that’s what they call her anyway, she’s from China, along with JunJun, who is not pictured in their entry, but probably is pictures somewhere on my blog… :D ) I said Wada Ayaka looked similar to LinLin, I think it’s true.. I think if Linlin didn’t smile as extreme, they’d look similar, granted, I love LinLin’s over enthusiasm, it’s cute.

Aibon!!!!! This is Kago Ai, I don’t care about her scandals, I still remember her as a Duo team with Tsuji Nozomi in W and being silly when they were still in Morning Musume, they lit up the stage. And as much as I would love W to have never disbanded, they both seem so much happier and so much more free, which really is the important thing in the end… even if it sucks for the fans. Anyway…. I think Fukuda Kanon looks like Aibon… anyone else see it? Maybe not. But i’ve seen lots of pictures of Kago, so I know her expressions down pretty well and this picture might not be the best example, but i thought it was cute. Oh well.

Melon’s final single… (Dude, I thought H!P gave up on them YEARS ago… I liked… Akai Freesia… but… not their version.. and I think there was another of their songs that I liked… that another shuffle did… and I liked the shuffle’s version better[Edit: The song title is Nikutai wa Shoujiki na EROS]) I think Melon Kinenbi could’ve been good and more popular, they certainly are quirky… but I’m not sure they were under the right label to really be the quirky band they seem to be.  And,… really? “Sweet Suicide Summer Story”??? Do they even know what that means? I’ll have to look up what the lyrics mean,. The PV looks totally cheap, most of it is them playing instruments in a white room. The song itself doesn’t sound bad, it actually seems pretty cool. I liked the close ups of their lips saying nothing really… or maybe they were? I dunno. I just know the tint of the screen changed and it looked wicked. Anyway, I looked on ProjectHello.com and I could only find up to the 17th single (which is Charisma, Kirei) I just want to add, in the beginning of the song, I actually stopped the PV because I thought another song started itself, because it just really didn’t fit. The Instrumentals aren’t great, but it’s got a nice beat. I’ve heard better, but it’s not a total plane crash of an ending for Melon… seeing as they’ve been sinking for quite some time…
(I can’t find the English translation anywhere… oh well… )

So… I’ve got two pictures of Melon Kinenbi, no I don’t know when they were taken, I just remember looking at one of them and going… THAT’s Melon!? How were they not popular?

The first thing I want to say is that I really like the outfits, they’re really cute and I’m jealous. I love Natsuyaki Miyabi’s hats. I think the choreography for this PV makes sooo much more sense and seems a lot better than their Otakebi Boy WAO! One, which was just weird. I perfer this PV also because there aren’t any bad CGI effects, my opinion is, if you aren’t going to do the effects right… just don’t do them. I gotta say Sugaya and Momoko looked creepily white at certain points in this PV. My guess is that it’s the lighting, which wasn’t all that bad, but there were some times were it washed out their faces (I’m not talking about 2:35~2:55 because it seemed like those were supposed to be washed out) but occasionally the ones towards the right would get more washed out than the left. Other than that I enjoyed the lighting effects. The song itself seems pretty good too, nothing sticks out as particularly bad and it actually seemed good, granted it’s hard for me to pay attention, I get sooo distracted by those fun accesories, like hats and bracelets, and those clothes looked awesome and fun to wear. Reminds me of the concerts where I think… “I’m not sure even the WOTAS wanna see them in that!”
